I have so much (many?) mahalo to express for being able to take part in this conference, its hard to know where to begin. Vince and Irene, of course and their whole incredible extended family. To quote one who knows “They are sooooo aloha”. My co=presenters and sojourners in Hana, Jerry, Tom, Patrick, Julia, Tara, Linda, Mike, that incredible badass semi-and 0ff-road chauffeur and host farmer Steve, who all made sure we lived in interesting times, those whom we missed in Hana, Eva, Chef (Grand )Teton, Mike Dupont, and Dr. Park. Cocoanut Jeremy, who kept me hydrated, Brooks, who kept us audible, Roy, who provided an acid-free flashback. VERY special is Claire, whose casa was mi casa and felt like it. Greg, David, Kimo, Ricky and Jimmy, all you visionaries and entrepreneurs. Thanks to Megan for announcing this forum.
And very special note to you farmers (and hunter/gatherers): you are what it is all about: no farms/no food: Or to paraphrase the Clinton campaign: Its About the Agronomy, Stupid.
Oh, man, I know I am leaving you out, so please email me and e-kick my butt to jar my senior memory loose. I really want to hear from everyone , since I could only record sporadic contact info and want to follow up on every possibility we talked about. That 1200 acres of pineapple stripped land, the place in France, Those two acres, that quarter acre in town.
Who knows about plans for the Pu’unene plant? Biomass? Anybody want to eradicate a little eucalyptus and restore sandalwood or koa? Got kiawe? Got old cane field? Pineapple?
So much soil, so little time.
