    Aloha agro-geographers,

Geo-referencing (mapping) provides a useful visual tool to see patterns hidden in data tables and spreadsheets that can be linked to places. Unseen patterns and opportunities can be solved for with spatial analysis tools. These maps can be persuasive, speaking the obvious.
The challenge, as with any business is identifying the demand. Once a need is clearly identified we can get grants to create the database or collect existing resources.
    Where are overlaps with:
    important ag land
    sprawl development pressure
    land trust interest
    ecological conservation goals/projects
    cooperative data & land managers
    economic incentives
    produce markets
    value-added ag/biz related processes

Mapping and geo-ref’d data can definitely help our goals.
A source for base maps is the
    Hawaii Costal Geology Group
And the West Maui Mountain Watershed folks have some good maps.
And then there is the Makali’i Group which offers GIS and other consulting to non-profits, etc.
